With excellent resistance to high-temperature, acid and alkali, corrosion, and electrostatic, stainless steel wire is a super cost-effective and long-lasting material and widely used in industrial applications, and favored by most users.

How do we choose stainless steel material for our daily use? There are two main aspects of stainless steel wire: one is material, and another is the wire diameter.

ABOUT MATERIAL

At present, the stainless steel wire normally used in the local market is SS304, SS316, SS201, and other materials. What is the difference between them? SS316 wire and SS304 wire have better anti-corrosive properties and their service life is much longer than SS201. SS316 wire is stronger in terms of corrosion resistance than SS304 and SS201, but the price is higher. SS201 and SS202 is the cheapest choices than the 300 series, but the service life is much shorter – normally will not exceed 5 years. Generally, rust and corrosion will occur in less than 3 years, moreover, in harsh environments, it will rust within one year.

Besides above material, we also supply SS309, SS310, and SS316L stainless steel wire mesh. For a simple description, here we use a picture to show the differences. Hope the below picture is helpful when you choose materials.

ABOUT WIRE DIAMETER

The wire diameter is also an important factor we must take into consideration when choosing material. We all know that thinner wire normally means higher requirements on material tensile strength and processing technology, but when choosing filter mesh with the same aperture, the thicker wire has a higher strength to resist high pressure from filtering and reverse-cleaning. In addition to filtration, stainless steel wire mesh is also a good choice for children’s protection products, and the diameter of 2.0mm steel wire is sufficient to achieve the purpose of protection. If the stainless steel wire mesh is chosen to anti-theft, coarse and thicker wire will be much better.
