1. Introduction of Stainless Steel
Stainless steel also named INOX, the main feature is stainless and corrosion -resistant. It is an iron alloy. The main chemical elements are iron. In addition, there’s carbon, chromium, nickel and other elements. The chromium content is more than 10.5%, and the carbon content does not exceed 1.2%

Due to strong corrosion resistance, it is often visible in our daily lives, such as tableware, housing steel structures, vehicles, production equipment, etc. Below we introduce the classification of stainless steel

2. Stainless Steel Classification

Ferritic Stainless Steel

Ferritic Stainless Steel mainly contains α-Fe, containing chromium 11%to 30%. It does not contain nickel, but contains a small amount of molybdenum and titanium. This type of stainless steel has good antioxidant resistance and excellent anti-stress corrosion, which is mostly used to create components that resist atmosphere, water vapor, water and oxidative acid corrosion. Mainly 400 series stainless steel, commonly 430. Suitable for heat-resistant equipment, burners, home appliances, etc.

Austenitic Stainless Steel

Mainly 300 series, 304, 304L, 316, 316L, 321, 301, etc. These belong to Austenitic Stainless Steel.
These stainless steels are processed based on 304. For example, adding Mo 2%-3% to the stainless steel, it’s stainless steel 316L. The corrosion resistance and high-temperature resistance can be improved; by adding titanium elements to the stainless steel, it’s SS321. This kind of stainless steel resistance to high-temperature oxidation and corrosion resistance between crystal resistance is better.

Martensitic Stainless SteelStainless Steel Extruder Screen

Martensitic stainless steel is after heat treatment tempering or quenching, during which the stainless steel is hardened. Mainly is low-carbon steel or high-carbon steel, with 12%-18%of chromium. The common is stainless steel such as 410,420,420F. Stainless steel 420 is to increase the content of carbon and sulfur and phosphorus based on 410. It improves the mechanical performance, and increases processing performance. Among them, low-carbon steel is high in carbon-containing, and its strength is high and low in cost. It is usually applied for the production of extruder screen.

Duplex Stainless Steel

Duplex Stainless Steel has higher yielding strength and stronger ability of corrosion resistance. The common is stainless steel 2205, 32750, 32760, etc. This material is often used in marine environments and has strong chlorine-resistant ionic corrosion.

Stainless Steel in Different Countries Name

The stainless steel mentioned above is a US standard. For different countries, there’s stainless steel name, please refer to our stainless steel wire cloth catalog.
