Metal Screens and Strainers for Industrial Water Filtration
Filtalloy manufactures metal screens, strainer elements, filter nozzles and porous metal components for industrial water filtration and water-treatment equipment. We supply components for new systems and replacements from process requirements, drawings or samples.
Selection depends on water chemistry, suspended solids, flow, pressure drop and the equipment interface. Our metal components support defined screening, filtration, media-retention or gas-distribution duties within a complete treatment system.
Industrial Water Filtration: Applications and Component Selection
- Cooling water filtration: screen or strain suspended debris; specify flow, solids, corrosion conditions and allowable pressure drop.
- Irrigation water filtration: select retention against emitter requirements, source-water solids and the system cleaning arrangement.
- Process water filtration: define downstream cleanliness, particle distribution and compatibility with water-treatment chemicals.
- Wastewater screening: choose openings, supports and cleaning access for the solids and hydraulic loading.
- Water well screens: specify slot opening against formation or gravel-pack data, with well geometry and mechanical requirements supplied by the well designer.
- Media retention: wedge wire nozzles retain suitable resin or granular media; specify bead size, nozzle spacing and service or backwash flow.
Screening, Filtration and Aeration Have Different Functions
A metal screen retains specified solids; it does not by itself remove dissolved salts or establish microbiological safety. Desalination, adsorption and disinfection require their own treatment stages. Porous metal aerators introduce gas into a liquid; oxygen-transfer performance depends on the complete system.
For potable-water contact, identify the required material approvals, cleanliness and certification before component selection. A general industrial product description is not a drinking-water certification.
Water Treatment Screens and Filter Components
Titanium Aerators
Porous titanium components for specified gas sparging or aeration duties. Define gas flow, immersion depth, liquid chemistry, connections and cleaning conditions.
Wedge Wire Filter Nozzle
Wedge wire nozzles for resin or granular-media retention and flow distribution. Specify slot size, connection thread, media size and service or backwash loading.
Centrifuge Dewatering Basket
Wedge wire baskets for suitable equipment-specific solids dewatering. Geometry, supports, rotating duty and acceptance requirements must follow the equipment drawing.
Stainless Steel Water Well Screens
Water well screens manufactured to the specified slot, diameter, length and joints. Formation data, gravel pack and required strength are provided by the well designer.
Wedge Wire Panels with Polyurethane Frames
Screen panels for suitable screening or dewatering equipment. Specify slot opening, frame geometry, fixing method and compatibility with the water and cleaning media.
Perforated Filter Strainers
Perforated basket and strainer elements for suspended debris retention in pipelines. We supply the element; housing, valves and any automatic cleaning system are separately specified.
Sintered Mesh Filter Elements
Sintered mesh elements for specified particulate filtration. Agree retention, supports, flow direction and cleaning limits; automatic cleaning depends on the complete equipment.
Discuss Your Water Filtration Requirements
Information Needed for Water Filter Components
- Water source, chemistry, temperature and treatment chemicals.
- Particle distribution, solids concentration and required retention.
- Normal and peak flow, operating pressure and allowable differential pressure.
- Screen or element dimensions, mounting, seals, threads and joints.
- For nozzles or well screens: media or formation data, supports and loading.
- Cleaning or backwash flow, direction, pressure and discharge arrangement.
- Required material documentation, inspection limits and water-contact approvals.
Inspection and Cleaning
Agree dimensional and opening checks, material documentation and specified flow or integrity tests before manufacture. Cleaning effectiveness depends on fouling and the system. Screen wear, corrosion and deformation should be assessed before returning a component to service.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a metal strainer make water safe to drink?
A strainer retains solids within its specified capability. Drinking-water suitability requires a complete treatment design and the applicable verification; it cannot be inferred from a metal opening or nominal rating.
Can these components remove dissolved salts?
Metal screens and particulate filter elements do not provide desalination. Select the appropriate treatment stage separately.
Are the elements automatically self-cleaning?
An element alone is not an automatic cleaning system. Backwash, brushing or flushing depends on the equipment design and the permitted loads.
What slot size is suitable for a water well?
The well designer selects the slot from formation and gravel-pack data, balancing retention and flow with mechanical requirements.
Can you replace an existing nozzle or basket?
Yes. Send drawings or a sample with dimensions, material, retention requirements and service or cleaning conditions.
Three Ways to Start Your Project
- Requirements-based customization: send operating conditions and the component function for a new project.
- Drawing-based customization: send the approved drawing, revision and acceptance requirements.
- Sample-based customization: arrange a sample for measurement and construction review, with the original duty and specification where available.
